Have you ever stopped and looked around your home or office and say to yourself, "how did it get like this?" If you have, you are certainly not alone. It is that moment of clarity and concern that fueled the birth of Self Care Housekeeping. I truly wanted to know - how did it get like this?
Contrary to what society will have us believe, the reason for challenges with home care is not due to laziness (which is not a real thing when it comes to home care, btw. This is a hill I will die on, every time.) or failure. The actual reasons are as varied as they are real and may surprise you.
As we like to say at Self Care Housekeeping, head, heart, home. This is because your body, mind, and home are inextricably linked, which means that whatever happens outside also impacts what's happening inside and vice versa.
So, what are some factors that may disrupt home care? Well...
Sudden changes: job loss, new providers, relationship changes, etc.
Grief: mourning loss of life, ended relationships/work positions, etc.
Routine changes: new school/work schedules, changed locations, etc.
Improper/missing tools: missing or defective cleaning equipment, not enough or not the right kinds of storage, etc.
Missing/ineffective systems: ineffective or unestablished cleaning/organizing routines
Executive dysfunction: caused by stress, developmental delays, mental illness or trauma
Incohesive household: the routines, habits, and lifestyles of each inhabitant are not in sync.
Ineffective work/life balance: inconsistent schedule, overworking, overcommitting, etc.
Missing/ineffective boundaries: what you need to be productive and in whole health is not being honored by you and/or those around you
and more...
These are just a few examples of what can impede on home care that you find satisfactory. As you can see, home care is much more than simply performing chores - it's whole life wellness.
It's important to be kind to yourself in moments of feeling and being unsettled in your home/office/life spaces. There is nothing wrong with you. There are simply barriers that need to be overcome. Take a moment to acknowledge where you are at. Affirm that it is ok. Then take some time to reflect on what might be causing the issues. That will be your most effective means of getting beyond those barriers.
In addition to our stellar in-home care offerings designed to address the outcomes and underlying causes of head, heart, home disruptions so that you can feel the immediate impact of a home de-stressed, we also offer a number of trainings and workshops, such as our "How to Set Healthy Boundaries" training, to address some of the external factors getting in your way as well. Our next virtual training on boundary-setting is scheduled for Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 1:00pm EST. Busy that day? No worries! We recognize how imperative healthy boundaries are, so we are offering this training every week on Tuesdays and Saturdays starting 2/25 and through the month of March. If ineffective boundaries are one of the things you checked off on your list above, you'll definitely want to attend this training! You'll leave with tangible skills that can be implemented and immediately reap the benefits of right away. Sign up using the link below:
I hope to see you there! Thank you for prioritizing your Self Care.
